About this project

Jizerské hory is an independent project by Petr Pikora. Contact: petr.pikora@petrpikora.com. This notice describes jizerskehory.app and the upcoming Android app app.jizerskehory, version 1.0 and later.

Website and favorites

No account, advertising scripts or analytics are used. Favorite trips are stored in this browser’s localStorage; clear site data to remove them. Active24 hosting may process standard server logs such as IP address, request time and requested URL.

Weather and maps

Open-Meteo provides forecasts for selected public places. Your GPS position is not sent. The service receives your IP address, technical request data and the coordinates of the selected place. OpenStreetMap tiles load only when you open a map; its provider receives your IP address and displayed area. External map and information services have their own privacy policies.

Android GPS journal

Recording starts only at your request with location permission. A foreground service and notification allow it to continue with the screen off. You can pause or stop it. It does not restart automatically after process termination. Track points, times, notes and statistics stay in private app storage. Nearby sorting uses a temporary location in memory, not our server.

Studio, camera and microphone

Camera and microphone are used only for features you start and permit. Photos, videos and optional capture locations stay on your phone. Picture-in-picture selfies use two sequential captures. The Studio library and GPS journal are excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer.

Export, sharing and deletion

Nothing is published automatically. You choose to export GPX, photos or videos and invoke system sharing. A share card can include a visible track sketch, which you can turn off. Imported photos become working copies without original EXIF metadata. Private notes are omitted from share cards. Dedicated sharing cache older than seven days is cleared when the editor next opens. Exported files remain where you saved them. Delete items in the app; clearing app data or uninstalling removes the local journal. Copies already shared with third parties remain there.

Sharing an outing with your own video

From version 1.1, you can create a shareable MP4 using your own video, up to 60 seconds long. Select one file through the system picker or Studio, without access to your entire gallery. Processing takes place only on your phone; the original is unchanged and nothing is uploaded automatically. The private temporary input copy may retain original metadata, including GPS: unlike a photo working copy, it copies the entire input video file. The output MP4 is newly encoded without carrying over original GPS metadata. It may include original sound, which you can mute, and shows a title, whole-outing statistics, logo, optional date and route sketch. The sketch is on by default and can be hidden. Images, sound and the sketch may reveal people or places; review the result before sharing. Private notes and GPX are not attached. Only at your request is the result passed to your chosen app with temporary read-only access, or saved to a destination you choose. The receiving service’s rules then apply. Temporary copies older than 7 days are removed when the editor is next opened; the system may clear cache earlier. Explicitly save a permanent copy. External copies and any cloud backups are outside the app’s control.

Technical logs and your rights

App and website network requests use HTTPS. Hosting, Open-Meteo and OpenStreetMap process IP addresses and technical request logs to provide, operate and secure their services; these may indicate the selected public place or opened map. We do not use an advertising identifier. Open-Meteo states that technical logs are retained for up to 90 days; other providers apply their own retention rules. Request access to or deletion of data controlled by Petr Pikora at petr.pikora@petrpikora.com, with the approximate request time and relevant IP address. Do not send GPS journals or photographs. Data needed for security or legal obligations may be retained. Contact independent providers directly under their policies. The journal records personal outings; the app is not a medical device and does not provide diagnosis, treatment or medical advice.

Voluntary creator support

Jizerské hory is and will remain completely free. A voluntary contribution to its creator, PetrPikora.com, unlocks nothing and grants no content, features or other benefits. The link opens an external PayPal profile only when tapped; the app sends no location, photos or outing records. PayPal processes payment and visit data under its own terms and policy: https://www.paypal.com/privacy-center. It may disclose your name, contact and payment details to the recipient. The app neither processes nor stores payment details and does not track payment results. For questions about recipient-held data, contact petr.pikora@petrpikora.com.

Visuals and licenses

The website and app images were created with generative AI for Jizerské hory. New views use researched descriptions and characteristic features of the places; third-party photographs were neither supplied to the generator nor published. These are not documentary photographs: building details, object locations, terrain and seasonal conditions may differ from reality. Images do not document route geometry. We plan to replace them gradually with our own photographs of the actual places.

Language and appearance

On the first visit to the main address and initial app setup, our server estimates the connection country from the IP address using a local DB-IP Lite database. This choice sends no IP to another geolocation service and requests no GPS location. Czechia uses Czech; Germany, Austria and Liechtenstein use German; Poland uses Polish; Ukraine uses Ukrainian. Other or unrecognised countries use English. A VPN can affect the result. Manual language choices take priority. The website remembers language in the functional jizera-language cookie and appearance in localStorage; the app uses its own settings. Initial appearance follows the system and can be changed.
